Outpatient Treatment

Supportive Outpatient Counseling Services in Sacramento, CA

Whether you or a loved one is continuing the journey to recovery or just getting started, Sierra Vista Hospital is here to help. In addition to our inpatient programs, we also offer a number of outpatient counseling services in Sacramento, CA.

Adult outpatient treatment includes intensive outpatient programs (IOP) and partial hospitalization programs (PHP). These treatment plans help adults with behavioral health disorders, chemical dependencies, or co-occurring disorders (dual diagnosis). The patients stay at home while undergoing treatment, so there is no need to put life on pause to get help.

Components of Outpatient Treatment

  • Individual treatment planning
  • Psychiatric assessments and medication management
  • Individual therapy as needed
  • Process group therapy and peer support
  • Dual-diagnosis group therapy
  • Adult education and life skill development
  • Family meetings
  • Discharge planning and community referrals

Our Outpatient Programs

To determine which of our intensive outpatient programs is the right fit, schedule a no-cost, confidential assessment with us. We’re available to assess potential patients 24/7.

Please note that our outpatient services are only for people who do not need around-the-clock care. Some patients transition to our outpatient care after finishing an inpatient program; others begin at the outpatient level. We recommend a treatment plan for our patients based on their initial admission assessment.

Behavioral Health IOP

Our adult behavioral health IOP treats those who need to stabilize their behavioral health disorder but don’t require the structure of 24-hour inpatient care or partial hospitalization. Patients typically attend three groups led by behavioral therapists per day, three days a week. However, scheduling varies based on the participant’s therapeutic needs. Sessions are held Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Chemical Dependency IOP

Our chemical dependency IOP treats adults with chemical dependency issues who are stable enough for work or school. The goal for patients is to attain sobriety and highest level functioning.

Patients must not exhibit detox symptoms or physical signs of addiction before enrolling. A psychiatrist directs the IOP, with certified alcohol- and drug-treatment counselors leading group therapy.

Attendance requirements vary based on each patient’s needs. The average length is 20 sessions. After completing this intensive outpatient program, patients can attend an aftercare program for at least one year.

Sessions are held Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Light snacks are provided.

Behavioral Health PHP

Our adult behavioral health PHP offers the same treatment as our inpatient program. Unlike the inpatient program, it does not require 24-hour care or an overnight stay at our behavioral health hospital. A psychiatrist oversees our patients’ treatment. The program is held Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.

Dual Diagnosis PHP

Our dual diagnosis PHP provides structured outpatient care for adults with co-occurring chemical dependency and behavioral health disorders. The program is held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.

Evening Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Sessions via Telehealth for individuals 18 and older
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
Participants receive an individualized treatment plan. All sessions are led by licensed clinicians and treatment is supervised by a Board-Certified Psychiatrist.
